James is still sick

James still has the same bad cough that he has had since November or December. You may recall that we took him to the ER a while back and they said he had bronchiolitis (sp?) (this is different from bronchitis) and he was put on a nebulizer. He got mostly better, but not all the way. He has been to the doctor a couple times since and yesterday he said he still has bronchiolitis. He had x-rays and was put back on the neb again. His coughing was so bad that the doctor thought about hospitalizing him, but the x-rays were good and the nebulizer helped a lot so he sent him home, making sure that I was okay with bringing him home. I am now doing frequent breathing treatments with the neb, just like a month ago. If this does not clear up soon, he may be diagnosed with asthma. The doctor said it is hard to diagnose that during the winter with all the colds and junk that goes around. He doesn't want to call it asthma now and overtreat, but yet if in a month or so it isn't gone, he doesn't want to undertreat it by holding off on an asthma diagnosis. Asthma is common in preemies so I won't be shocked by this.

Babies down here that James was recently around are also sick. Maddy also had bronchiolitis for about a week or so, and so did Lily and Jonathan Bauman, and now Jonathan actually has RSV - and he is 5.5 months old now!

So maybe it's just a super bad winter for babies?
